This year, Vali and I have been invited to the 2018 Taste Canada Awards Gala, held at Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Splendid venue, delicious event.

We were welcomed by tables topped with dozens of cheese types and styles, beautifully adorned with grapes, figs, artichokes, all sorts of marinades, and an assortment of flavors of humous. The wine was flowing and the guests were cheerful. We recognized several chefs in the crowd, trying to mingle before the big feast.

The Awards ceremony was nicely orchestrated to be sumptuous and at the same time light and funny. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners!

And after all the trophies were given and all the praises said, the guest flooded the banquet hall where twenty famous chefs were serving their specialty of the night, especially designed and prepared for the Gala.

There has been soooo much food and each and every one of the dishes were delicacies. We were bursting at the seams and still had a few chefs to go, and the recipes written next to each dish were so fantastic that you couldn’t just say: “I’m done. That’s it.”

I had the pleasure to see some of my work in action. I designed the poster and the social media promotional materials for “October is the National Cookbook Month”. You can admire the poster in one of the pictures with Vali.

We had to try them all. By the end of the feast, the coffee specialties served by Nespresso felt like a relief. There was no more goodness. We could go home and digest.

Now I can imagine how the green courtiers were feeling at the end of a feast prepared and served by a regiment of famous recipears.
