We’ve been so busy lately that we postponed normal life. Sometimes it is like that. And this morning we woke up and stuff started coming back to us. Long walks, friends, restaurants, celebrations. We browsed through our photos and smiled with nostalgia.

We remembered our spring anniversary. I say spring because like all normal couples we have two wedding anniversaries every year—a spring one and an autumn one. We got married in spring, in England, while studying there. No wedding, just a small party with our friends there. Two years later, when we returned to Romania, our families wanted to celebrate us and they organized a big wedding for us. In autumn. Gurgu clan’s months—April, May, and November.

I know, I said two anniversaries and now I mention three months. I didn’t lose my train of thoughts, it’s just … well, maybe another time.

Anyway, this spring we went to celebrate at the high-end dim sum restaurant, Lai Wah Heen. Gorgeous ambiance and even more wonderfully presented food. Though quite pricey, we had been lucky to get a great offer including quite a large number of items.

Dim Sum

Lai Wah Heen is clearly not your usual Chinese restaurant. Its cuisine is fusion but with deep roots in the Chinese traditional dishes. Delicious doesn’t begin to describe it.

But what made it exquisite for us is the creative way they prepare each and every dish. We’ve encountered this level of creativity only in one other place, that I’m not going to mention here for obvious reasons. The experience was reminiscent of my vision from RecipeArium of what a truly creative, high-end cuisine should be.
